This beautifully presented Lotus Elan +2 S130 4 (130bhp, 4 speed) is in superb condition having been subject of a major mid 1990's body off restoration being rebuilt on a brand-new galvanised chassis, the body superbly prepared and painted, the interior re-trimmed and the car mechanically rebuilt with many parts reconditioned, powder coated and carefully re-fitted to the car.
Having covered relatively low mileage since its initial restoration, the last four previous owners over the past ten years have carefully detailed and fettled the car, taking it to an exceptional standard. The more recent expenditure has ensured this now aged top quality restored car drives and performs as one would expect if fresh from restoration. Expenditure includes the desirable CV joint driveshaft conversion, electronic ignition, new top ball joints, steering rack gaiters, speedometer overhaul and speedo cable, new fuel pump and gasket and carb fuel lines, new ignition items, heater fan motor, throttle and bonnet cables, new brake servo, brake lines repiped new servo, brake master cylinder, new high torque starter motor, fuel tank breather modifications, stainless exhaust various new switches, Halogen headlamp kit and very recently the carbs have been stripped and set up, recent brake fluid change and service by Lotus Specialist. The engine maintains a good oil pressure and constant temperature and has the desirable weber carbs. Serviced and MOTd annually since 2012 with the last two services by Lotus specialists and garaged for the last 3 years..
The Lotus has covered a total of 98000 miles nut only 2200 miles in the last 10 years and as much enjoyment and pleasure taken out of detailing and carefully preparing the car. As result this Elan +2 is incredible to drive with superb, tight handling, a fabulous fit correct and original engine, the gearbox is sweet up and down the gears, brakes are efficient and perfectly balanced, and the car offers impressive performance and lots of fun on the road. The underside matches up to the high standards of its mechanical condition with a stunning, clean chassis, various powder coated components and generally very tidy appearance. The paintwork has a lovely deep finish and importantly has no evidence of crazing giving testament to the quality of work back in the 1990's. The interior is beautifully presented with a nicely aged feel, the engine bay is excellent, wheels and tyres in excellent order ensuring this fabulous Elan Plus Two is ready to use and enjoy. The car comes with a history file, receipts and MOTs, owners handbook & works manual, a certificate of provenance from Lotus.
