Time to sell an S1- Deposit taken on 63 .

I find myself with the elan count well past what I use to consider as the optimal number which had always been N+1. Anyways, having accumulated more elans than I can reasonably keep exercised and properly stored (5) I need to thin the heard.

First up is car that some of the listers here may remember from my postings over time – Its my Medici Blue S1 car. This is a late series 1, Dec 1964 manufacture. Sadly, being sold as a project car after being “rear ended” by a careless motorist. This car came to me as California black plate car in need of a complete restoration that I took on and competed - it was/is a numbers matching car and will be sold with its original engine, frame and body (the dry climate of California having preserved the metal) . It is mostly there and ready to be put back together it will be easier to tell you what’s not there. Off the top of my head, here is what is not included ( I used some of the parts on a rebuild of a replacement car) . Steering rack, column, wheel. The wiring harness, rear baring carriers, lower front control arms. Seats, exhaust system.

I toyed with the idea of building it up as a shape craft fastback but at this point I can’t say when that would be so moving this on is probably the best option . I am still working up a price for the dotnet crowd (final price depends on parts /configuration) , Let me know your interest via PM here.

Second is another Series 1 car , this one is the red 1963 S1 . it’s a very early lotus bodied car ( 7th one judging by the dymo label on the fire wall ) This car came to me via Tony Clark /Lotus SE , It was owned by a mechanic at lotus SE was off the road from the early 70”s until my brother and I bought in 2011. I am essentially the second owner. I have made no attempts to restore this elan instead it has been driven as is and carefully maintained mechanically. It’s a great example of an early car and gets regular 4-6 hour workouts on county and mountain roads. Anther dry climate car ( central Texas) that is also accident free. Can be used as is, however the paint is about done after 50yrs and detracts from the looks . Price agreed, deposit taken -

- If you have not figured it out – cars are located in the US , east coast. I will post a couple of photos as soon as practical.

My notes suggest your Dec 1964 S1 is 26/3808 which puts it in S2 territory. Were classifications different in USA? My car, which left the works in August 1964 as an S2, has S1 mechanics like transmission flanges, front calipers (updated) and tail lamps but has the full-width dashboard.

Are my notes a confusion of your multitude, could you list all five, please?
Meg

26/4088 1965 S1½ Old and scruffy but in perfect working order; the car too.

I thought S1 production ceased at 26/3900? I'm sure Tim or Andy will be along shortly.

Meg,

I am sure there are some postings in the other forums on the transition to series 2 production and lotus record keeping . If you are interested in buying either of the cars and or have some questions about them please PM me or if you want we can talk on the phone.
