1970 Lotus Elan +2
VIN: 50/1504
This car is driven 2-3 times/wk over the last 3 years and could be driven anywhere.
The work I have done over the last 3 years has been done to improve day to day reliability and ease of use while maintaining a reasonably stock appearance.
70,000 miles
All electricals work. Passenger side window is a bit slow.
Reportedly the top end was redone to big valve spec by the PO. Other than an oil leak it?s been excellent.
Twin Cam pulls strong with 2.5% leakdown on cylinder 1-3 and 5% on 4. (Anything under 10 is excellent)
RD Enterprises ceramic coated headers
RD Enterprises CV joints
Distributorless ignition. (I have the original distributor and coil ready to plug back in if desired)
? Microsquirt ECU with Ford EDIS ignition module and gen 2 coilpack.
? Crank position sensor
? Coolant temperature sensor
? Manifold air pressure sensor
? Wideband O2 sensor. (1 bung downstream of collector, 1 bung after each Y so carbs can be tuned independently) This is the only non-original gauge in the dash.
Bluetooth serial adapter. While looking at a stock looking dash, your phone can be showing all of the above sensors. Logging can also be done with either a computer or phone.
All the wiring is in place for going full fuel injection, just needs the fuel plumbing and throttle bodies
60amp denso mini alternator
Variable Intermittent wipers.
All lights except headlights are now LED. This was a painstaking process to find LED?s of the right color temperature to match the originals. The difference is now they look period correct but the gauges are actually visible.
Electric fuel pump
Recently replaced parts:
Camshaft timing sprockets replaced during last valve clearance check.
Diff carrier with Tony Thompson racing alloy carrier
Diff output bearings
LR wheel bearings
New addition to the family forces sale.
Asking $25000.

Beautiful car. Curious however as my old car was 50/2180 which made it a 1969 and had the early seats and centre consul. Yours has a much earlier VIN but the newer seats. Are you sure of the VIN or sure of the date of production. It's possible it sat around un registered for a long time and had the seats replaced?
Cheers

The vin is correct. Its stamped on the chassis and matches the nameplate. Not sure on the seats but its possible they were replaced when the PO did a body off.

Dream car! You'll be lucky to find one, I've seen one on the flesh at sports car world Dallas and seen one for sale in Houston. So at least two in the country!
I nearly stopped dead when I saw the one at sports car world a few years back. Friend didn't quite understand my fascination with it!

The seats are the early type that look to have been re-covered, however the Federal built-in headrests aren't quite the right size and form.
