1971 Lotus Elan +2 with 26,000 Miles
Beautiful silver car, in immaculate condition, with a new alternator and ignition coil.
Restored in 2010, with the interior all new and the paint and body work in very good condition.
All the number matches, chassis engine etc.
This is a very good example of a great car, with full service records and an Ontario safety.
The car is the personal car of one of the leading Classic British car garages in Ontario., and is gorgeous.

Very nice looking car. Definitely worth a look; anyone close?
Can you guys tell what the wheel size is? Just wondering about the bolt on conversion.
Stromberg bonnet and Weber head. Could just be the usual Lotus thing.
The car is earlier than '71 and non-Federal based on the dash switches and single booster. Might not be a big deal and just a registration quirk. My '69 Federal was originally registered as a '71 in Ontario, so I just left it. The VIN from the seller would clear up the correct vintage.
Are those extra lights in the front valiance?
Best of luck with the sale.

Hubcaps...............really? If the frame and the drive train is good then addressing the roof paint and wheels seems minor. I'd go with a dark gray mat finish wheel. Helps tone down the silver paint.

The car is officially sold.....to me! I'm very excited and looking forward to it arriving.
Thanks to Ken for checking the car out and giving me more comfort and to other folks who have seen the car in person and vetted it.
A little more information on it.
Regular steel knockoff wheels are hiding underneath the covers
The engine was rebuilt and it has a big valve weber head that replaced a stromberg one.
All new bushings in the suspension at the time of restoration in 2010 as well as new paint.
Cheers
Rob

Congrats Rob,
I know you will be well pleased with the car. When you decide you want to add something extra special to your collection, let me know, I am bringing in a LHD S1 Exige style car
Should be here by December.
Let us know when you get the Elan

Fantastic Rob! Bonus on the wheel thing, Weber head. We need to see this baby out at the All British Field Meet next year! Enjoy the car; they really are terrific. Gotta ask, are you driving it west? I drove mine from Ontario and no regrets, just the odd push.

Stu,
I'll be at the ABFM just like every year, but this time with a car!
I'm not driving it back, crossing the Rockies in Late September can be hit or miss. Besides, I can't afford the time. Covered truck transport door to door with an outfit used previously by the owner and his restoration business.
Thanks for your help and comments regarding the blue one I saw as well. It helped put the two in relative context and ranking.
Cheers

You bet Rob. See you there next year.
Good point on the weather. Snow in Montana already, and we are next. I forgot I hit snow at Winnepeg in May, so good choice!

The car arrived this afternoon! VIN 50/2180, which makes it a 1969(?) I'll add it to the registry soon.
It looks better in person than pictures with very few marks or stress cracks (only around the bonnet catches). There is a metallic fleck in the silver and this combination with the balck wheels looks great.
Everything works fine on the car with the exception of the horn
The motor pulls great 3500 - 5500rpm.
I'm very happy. I've been too long without a Lotus!
I'm sure things will come up and I'll be picking the site and your collective brains.

Looks great Dave.
A suggestion on the horn (if they are the air horns in the front). Check things out electrically for sure, but I had a problem forever with mine working intermittently. Fitting a few hose clamps on the air horn plastic hoses improved things a bunch. I assumed it was an intermittent electrical fault but it wasn't.
Possible during rebuild that the wire that runs over the stock universal coupling on the steering column was removed or not connected. Check continuity from steering column to a known good ground first. Replacement solid metal universals may not require the wire, but horn button runs to ground thru the column so must have continuity.
