SOLD!
This is a frame-off custom built 1968 Lotus Elan. It was not built as a restoration. The goal was to build a fun, exciting, and reliable car that would turn heads and run like heck, and boy does it. It has a SPYDER chassis and adjustable double A-Arm suspension on all four corners. The rear has been upgraded from the MacPherson strut type of suspension to a double A-Arm type with adjustable Heim Jointed ends and Porsche CV Joints and Half Shafts. It has a new clear coat paint job and new custom interior including a new burly Maple dash. It is completely rewired using a Painless wiring harness, fuse panel and relays. Installed is a Ford 2.0 that is race prepped but mildly tuned. The engine was broken in and tuned on an engine dynamometer. It pulls like a mule, and will run all day long. The high capacity multi core aluminum radiator keeps it nice and cool even in our hot Arizona summers. The massive 3 piece Magnesium rims and tires help keep all that torque being funneled through the Quaife 4-speed transmission and Quaife LSD planted to the ground. The adjustable SPAX coil over shocks ensures this Elan turns on a dime. It is a driver?s car and will bring a smile to your face every time you drive it. The car was just completed; it?s great looking inside and out and awesome to drive. Price reduced, kids in college need to sell off the toys. $26,000.00 OBO

It has a SPYDER chassis with upgraded rear fully adjustable A-Arm suspension, heim joints on front and rear A-Arms. It was upgraded with Porsche CV joints and half shafts. I have VIN number and docs from Lotus UK about original sell of the car. All build docs and pictures are available. The car was built to be driven and driven hard, even though it has show quality paint and interior the purpose for the build is to enjoy the car by driving it.

The VIN number is what is needed.
It often is on the body in the engine compartment on the left side. If it is not present, then the VIN number provided by Lotus is the one.
Given the VIN number, existing documentation can pinpoint the date of manufacture, as opposed to the date of first registration which is often a different year.

1968 36/7988 - manufactured in 1968, first registered in 1969.

Yes there is a typo in the title, I don't know how to change it and did not think it was that big of a deal.
If it helps, here are the details. It is an S4-FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) -36/8022. It left Lotus on April 26, 1968, sold to Moto Baldet in the UK. I Hope this helps clarify any confusion. If you are interested in buying the car I can give you as much information and details as you like.
Thank You.

found out how to edit the title, it now reads S4 all is now well.
As for the word 'custom' it is not a restoration, has a SPYDER chassis and A-Arms, modified wheel arches, modified bonnet (hood), non standard engine and many high performance non Lotus parts.
