Reading what Chris had written i was going to give the benefit of the doubt but i think my 1st post was correct, common courtesy wouldnt have gone amiss ie.a quick phone call along the lines of Hi Gareth are you genuinely interested as i have someone else chomping at the bit and i need a quick sale etc.etc.
Was the Pm meant in jest or menace Gareth,i see he is an avid poster,

The days are well gone when people will hold a car on a word when there is a second party waving cash at them sadly. The guy who owns the place i work for often buys cars that have even had Deposits put on them, he see's it as business but its sad when you think about it. Guess its just the world we live in but for a dealer its not uncommon to buy a car sight unseen.
As for Dorsal Fin, well out of order to threaten some one off. If he wants to play by those rules then you should have put a deposit on it there and then.
Banning will do nothing he'll just come back under another name.

Interesting reading ...... both here an on thelotusforums.com ....
First of all, I have no idea what this perceived threat is, I had not and did not make any threats to anyone, sounds like Chinese whispers to me.
Now, it appears that some are very keen to appoint themselves judge jury and executioner without hearing the 'arguments' from both the prosecutor and defendant, I'm assuming said people are not working in the legal profession .... which is probably just as well.
So, my accuser knew full well that I was looking for a +2, he even sent me a message saying there was one on ebay which was good of him, but I wanted a S model, at no point did my accuser tell me he was also looking for a +2, and as he already has one why would I assume otherwise?
Back to this car in question, very simple, I saw it, sent a PM, actually asked if my accuser told him I was looking for a +2, answer was no. Ok then. We spoke about the car, I received the same 'old' pictures that my accuser received and was told "it looks better in the pictures", as they all do.
I was also told by the seller that he didn't want the usual problems with selling such a car, "please send me a picture of this, of that, how fast is it, will you take my Micra in p/x yak yak yak etc" you all know the score. At no point was I informed that anyone had or had not placed 'dibs'
I asked 2 questions, is it complete and does it run, answer to both was yes, that's all I was interested in because I know what will need to be done to the car and I didn't want to be chasing around for missing parts. So the price was agreed and I paid and bought the car, simple as that.
For those of you who obviously have a crystal ball and have already made assumptions as to what I'm going to do with the car ...... your all wrong. It's not going to get washed and sold, it's not going to be broken up for parts, it's not going to be converted to a race car, it's going to be restored and is alongside my collection of other 'twinks', which by the way my accuser was not happy about my other purchase because he apparently wanted it .... so not only am I in the doghouse for buying this +2 I'm also in the doghouse for buying the other twink.
Now you can all appoint yourself judge jury and executioner and make your own decisions, if the decision is unanimous and the moderator/administrator of this site sees fit then he/she can delete my profile.
I have nothing more to say publically on the topic.

We seem to now have 2 contradictory stories and the only way we'll know which is more accurate is to see 'the messages'. So G do you want to do that or let the thread die?
I'd also be interested in a link to the TLF thread.

this is between me and you I guess.....
I would have had no problems with this had the seller come back to me later in the day to say sorry...itd been sold......
he didn't......
you posted to me
"don't you dare buy that +2...I want it"
then later that day
"Ive sent a PM saying I'll buy it"
then
"Ive said I'll pay more than you offer"
......
followed 3 hours later by
"sold to me....!!!"
so despite knowing I was interested in the car you went ahead and pushed to the front......
if that's the way its to be then so be it.......
I usually had the common good manners to take my place in a line........
simple......
you pushed harder........
and TBH.....its gone....hope you enjoy it as I cant be arsed arguing with you anymore.......
I think youre wrong....you think youre right......you won....
I now know your not the kind of person I would want as a friend......
please don't contact me again
thanks

Gareth,
I'm sorry you feel so offended, but I was the first person to make an offer for the car and pay for the car,the seller told me the same, first with cash wins, emails expressing an interest isn't a sale, simple. Exactly the same scenario with the TC Europa, you didn't know I had bought that until after the fact and then told me you wanted it.
You mentioned in a previous post "I may have offered money ..." well if you wanted the car you should made an offer and paid but you didn't, that's not my fault. If I hadn't bought the car then someone else would have, and you may never have known. I bought 2 cars in a week that you were interested in, and I'm in the wrong?
That is my last post on this forum.
Goodbye.
Peter

And your problem is what? The Europa is up for grabs also, along with the Elise
