Howdy everybody, first post has to be a sad post...
Regretfully selling the 1967 Louts S3 SE
The last Weber Lotus Elan as you all know i'm sure. The best Elan IMHO especially if your not into the boy racer looks of a Sprint.
We bought this car in 2014. Previous owner since 1969...purchased with 2,000 miles at that time. Very well cared for all its life.
This car is numbers matching, extremely original throughout, and totally accident free. It is still in its original paint and has an original interior that presents really well. It currently has 40,600 original miles. After purchasing the car we had the Engine/Webers rebuilt, upgraded crank seal, installed a new gas tank, larger radiator, rebuilt diff, new suspension with CV joints, new XAS FF Michelin tires as well as had braking upgrades done. Basically this is a very clean survivor, ready to drive or show. Full set of books and tools are included. Its an incredible drive by the way..... We want to see it go to a good home.
It was a unique opportunity to own this car and we had long term plans for it but the garage is now downsizing. Not overly motivated but somethins gotta go! Inspections welcome anytime.
Thanks for looking.

Can do. This car has all of its original SE badges, and I never repainted the green cam cover when the engine was rebuilt. It most certainly is an original SE car if that's what your getting at.... did they make SE cars in 66'? I will snap a photo of engine bay when I get back to the garage.

Nice Elan. You should have brought it to LOG36 in Princeton last year! Good luck with your sale.

Not at all! It's one of the most original S3 S/E's I've ever seen. I would buy this car in a heart beat, but what with Sterling being weak and and I already have a similar car.
I am after photos just because its a pleasure to see such an original car.
I was curious about the Carello indicators, there is a whole thread on the forum about them.
S/E's were made in '66, I think yours is a '66 car because of the metal kick plates in the door, my April '67 car has carpet.
I see your car as a benchmark in originality.

Well thank you!!!! I can say it's like getting in a time machine and it goes like stink.
I can't remember if they are carellos but will snap a good detail photo of one.
I love learning nuances of any car and I venture into many marques. This is just one more thing I now know. Much appreciated.

What an incredible car! There can't be many Elans left with their original paint. Interesting to see the transition from S2 bits to S3. It has the S3 standard radiator (must be one of the first), but the shield badges still on the front quarters, as per the S2. Rob, to you think that the badges moved to the rear quarters when the Airflow was introduced, or before that? The Coupe had them on the rear roof pillar until the Airflow.
I hope that the new owner appreciates exactly what he's bought!

May airflow April '67 car has the badges on the rear quarter. Surprisingly my car has one of the first Mk 2 engines.
