*** ALL SOLD****Early Plus 2 Project for Sale

PostPost by: Elanintheforest » Thu Mar 15, 2012 12:04 pm

It?s time to move on a couple of Plus 2 projects. I have two very different cars here, one very early and one quite early, and they should appeal to different folks?you?ll see why!

Chassis number 32, registration OYY88F. (THIS CAR IS NOW SOLD)

Chassis number 224, registration JCO193F....THIS CAR IS NOW SOLD

This car was taken off the road a long time ago as well, and restoration started. The body was professionally stripped, repaired and painted in the correct Lotus Yellow (the owner had a bodyshop) but at some time, the garage where the mechanical and trim items for the car were stored was flooded.

I bought the car some 3 or 4 years ago missing some of its trim, the engine and gearbox and instruments / dash. I?ve since found most of the missing stuff.

The paintwork is of course the main thing about this car, and after 10 years, it is still superb. There are no blisters or craters, and no gel coat cracks have come back?i.e., it was done properly. The engine bay still needs to be painted. The body sits on a rolling chassis, which has been repaired, and I would get a better one or get Spyder to recondition this one properly.

As a complete package, the car is only missing the carburettors and airbox. However, I?d be happy to sell the car as a rolling shell if you want to build a Zetec, or have a spare engine / box that you want to use. The rolling shell could be just the shell, or everything except engine and gearbox, or you can have the whole lot. The price is around ?4k for the rolling shell with everything except the engine and box?.half the price of a paint job.

I may be interested in a P/X either way on either / both of the cars, but only for something interesting and that works...I still have enough cars in bits.

There is no hurry to get these sold, and I?m happy to work with a buyer to sort out the right package on the yellow car. They can stay here until summer. I?m not interested in making money out of these cars, but do want to see them being restored rather than broken for parts, and get some of my money back!

PM me if you?re interested.

Mark

That's why the wife will not let me extend the garage.

I would love the early black one but do not have the space or time. :(

Good luck, hope they go to a good home.

It will only go to a good home Jason, or it's staying here!

A 4 litre Terry. I've had it for 12 years and 90,000 miles, and not a single component has gone wrong. It's even got pretty good fuel consumption!

I would have been interested in the yellow Plus Two but I'm after a non-cat version...

The cat stays!!

It's a Dolly, Jon, another itch that I had to scratch. It's a hoot to drive, and it does 0 - 60....just.

Driving back down from Shrewsbury where I bought it last year, Carol was in tears laughing following me. With my size, it drives a little lop-sided, leaning a bit to the right. But going around left hand bends, the door handles are scraping along the ground. I've tried a couple of bags of sand in the passenger side (Carol won't get in it) but then it doesn't want to go.

It doesn't seem to use petrol either, and sounds like a clockwork car. The first hybrid? And you forgot about the basket of eggs.

Things change! The black car is now provisionally sold, and the yellow car is still for sale. I am open to offers on the shell only, the shell with ID, the shell on rolling chassis....etc. etc. If you are thinking about painting your pre-'S' Type Plus 2, and you like Lotus Yellow, this would save you thousands of ???s !!

I am hoping to see the black one painted wedgewood blue and in the next village very soon.

Another +2 back on the road. Great news!

Looking forward to seeing it Nick.

And Jason, remember my other early car, a red car chassis number 10? That's back in Gt Yeldham being restored...and the original colour of that was Wedgewood Blue. Essex has the monopoly of early Wedgewood Plus 2s now!

When the yellow one sells it will be only 2...the BDA early(ish) car and a very late yellow 130/4 speed. That one is all done except it needs painting

I'll keep my eyes open for any that come up on Ebay for you.

What are you going to fill the empty space with?

I fancy an old Fiat 500 next. I have almost convinced the wife that it will just fit in the garage with the +2 and the Mini. :D
