Parts list

PostPost by: Andy8421 » Thu Nov 14, 2024 9:25 am

Now getting serious about my on again/off again 35 year restoration. The car came with a manual, but I have never had a parts list. I know the contents of the parts list is available on line, but I want a paper copy to thumb through.

A number of suppliers have a 'Service Parts List' for sale - is this the Lotus title for the complete parts list that shows all the assemblies and component parts? If not, what should I be looking for?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Andy.

This is what my parts manuals look like, the Blue one is for the early cars S1 & S2 and the Green one for S3 & S4.

+1 well done that man.
I bought one from Lotus Cars 40+ years ago. So much good info and nice exploded drawings.

Is there any real advantage to those over the online parts lists posted here in the WIKI or at rdent.com? Well, other than having your own historic document.

Hello Bud,

Yes sir. The exploded view images of the parts list provide useful information about how various parts, such as the transmission are assembled. In addition, the parts lists show the revisions of various parts as they evolved during production.

So the printed versions have more complete/detailed illustrations than the online versions. Didn't know that. Thanks

Hi Bud,
The thing is if your parts list is in a loose leaf folder you can remove the page you need. Then use this in your workshop easily at the side of where your working. Inside a plastic sleeve of course to keep clean.
