Girling servo overhaul

I'm going to have my s4's girling servo overhauled. The question is where? Sandy advice and ballpark costs, please?

There are several companies who can do the work, I've recently had quotes from the three listed below and there are others I'm sure.
The cost will depend on what needs doing, from simply replacing the seals to a complete remanufacture back to "as new" condition. Turn around times also vary considerably depending on the extent of the work required and how busy they are at the time .. could be anything from 3 weeks at best to 12 weeks!
Suggest you get in touch to discuss what you need.

I used PastParts . They were the only company who I could find had the engineering capability to machine and re-sleeve the bore with a stainless steel liner. There are plenty of other companies around often quoted on here who just fit a repair kit and make the outside of the servo look pretty so beware.
Cost from PastParts 18months ago was around £280'ish. Turnaround was just a couple of weeks.

They actually aren’t all that difficult to rebuild yourself. The cylinder is aluminum and normally not subject to the level of corrosion that steel cylinders are - unless of course they have been left standing and open to atmosphere with fluid inside for a long time. The large vacuum piston with its leather seal can be obtained from stage 2 Motorsport on an exchange basis if the leather seal itself has deteriorated. The kits for the rubber parts are commonly available and inexpensive. If you take it apart and the cylinder checks out ok corrosion and wear wise they are quite inexpensive to rebuild. If you don’t need to sleeve it don’t sleeve it. A rebuilder will probably charge you a similar amount regardless of the level of work required. If it just needs a seal kit, paint and plate the cost to do so if you supply the labour is minimal.

I shipped mine from Canada to J & L, very pleased with the work. No connection with them just a satisfied customer.

An update. I removed the girling servo and joined the Bundy pipes together with an adapter. The intention was for this to be temporary. However..... the brakes feel much much better and direct, so I'm going to store the servo and consider whether to install a 5/8 master cylinder to reduce the force needed to apply full braking. I had recently popped in green stuff pads and I'm more than happy with these sans servo.

A chum, who is a fairly well known racer, simply said "you don't need a servo on an elan", when I mentioned all this. I think he's right.
