Center Console removal

Hi all,

I’m a newbie. Does the center console pull out without any tool? I pulled out vinyl cover padded console altogether. I see some kind of fiber glass tunnel. Is that what’s covering the 4 speed gearbox? I wasn’t sure if I can pull out the fiber glass tunnel…

Hi Gelan
The fibreglass tunnel which you have uncovered is part of the bodyshell and not removable. Below that is the folded steel chassis. The gearbox comes out forwards with, or after the engine.

I was looking around the forum and the ABS center console replacement looks nice. How does it fare against heat and sound insulation? I suppose you can glue/cover it with leather if fancy desired?

There should be sound-insulation padding between the fibre-shell and the steel 'chassis' centre box.
