Dear All
I do suppose that Colin Chapman never imagined that a day an elan driver should have to enter the car with an FHR system.Belgian hillclimb championship does despite FIA saying not obliged in period F cars My question is .....Based on your experiment which is the best thing to use ??? (buy)
Thanks a lot to all
Roger

Steve

I used a Schroth HANS from MSAR.
I've swapped it for a Simpson Hybrid which to me is better in every conceivable way ( comfort being the most pleasing)
And yes, I see the irony when you can use an original 1963 Elan seat

To answer your question Steve; FHR( D )means Frontal Head Restrain Device ....the purpose is to prevent your head going too far when having a crash (frontal) and is supposed to prevent you break your spine And thanks a lot Graeme I am going to this direction too this simpson system seems much less cumbersome

I have been using a Scroth FHR for a number of years since they are mandated here. its comfortabe enough for me but no head room in a coupe to fit the helmet when in the car with the FHR in place so it goes on before I get in the car which makes doing up the belts by feel a challenge
.
I use the original Elan seat ( it is historic racing !) The top of the FHR can catch the padded cross bar on my role cage behind my head so depending on your setup you may want to check that
cheers
Rohan

If buying a new one when the certification on my current one runs out I would probably do the same with the modern lower profile styles
