Presumably these issues were covered under warranty. But, not a great testament to Lotus reliability and quality.
My S4 SE (Federal), picked up by me at the factory (July 1969), had none of the same problems. Only thing replaced was the dual gauge at the 500 mile checkup- which turns out was probably OK - the car just ran hot (always).
First 6000 miles through UK/Europe, no complaints. First major item, shortly after the car came to the States: timing case-generator lug broke off necessitating a new case. Car was just out of warranty - ended up splitting the costs.
