There's an interesting, but extreme, project described from https://youtu.be/VTMO-9krDjs?t=939.
Any takers?

I believe there is already around £40k in it and depending who you ask £20-30k on top to finish it.
This project has been tamed right down from the original concept....... but still 350hp in a car that weighs 450-500kg ish is going to be scary.
For me the Moggie with MX5 running gear is one of the better projects they are doing at the mo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22HHql08k70&t=293s

Speaking of MX5's, Matt Urch's Ford over MX5 is an interesting project on Youtube.

I saw his Ford Pop drift car last year....... was interesting.
I think the MX5 is the new Sierra, seems allot of custom cars and kits are based on them. I know Retropower have done at least two MX5 based cars and there is a MGB with MX5 running gear in it just down the road from work.

I have a young friend interested in classic cars who ran a late Herald for his wife to drive 50 miles to work. When the engine finally gave up he dropped a MX5 power train into it, carefully filing off the Mazda logo, with interesting results at traffic lights.

Retropower has announced that the person who was having this built has cancelled it Hopefully someone else completes it. Sounded like a really interesting project, and knowing them it would have been done to a very high standard.

Thats why the OP posted the video of Gary telling the story of why the owner has pulled out. The guy who originally commissioned it is looking for some one to buy it off him and have it finished (might be one of the most expensive new build Elans out there if it is finished)
I think the BAC Mono has spoiled the owner (not sure this elan would have kept with a Mono on a Track day)

Sorry but that's not a "Moggie(Morgan)"
that's a Morrie/Morris Minor or Jelly Mould in the UK, maybe different in USA.

There's an MX5-powertrain Minor in my area. The car was in bad cosmetic shape and still is, and the guy runs it in the 24 Hours of Lemons races.
