Elan original print

PostPost by: gherlt » Thu May 16, 2019 12:07 pm

dear friends
besides my work with books (e.g. Buckland 2nd ed) i earn my money with original prints. I am also close friends with some artists. One of them took up my suggestion to make prints with oldtimers, thank God he is a realistic artist !
Here you find most of the series:

Of course I couldn't miss a lotus, but I didn't like the proportions of the first design, some wrong details caught my eye immediately. He has now corrected that mostly.
So first the question to the audience, do you like the print ?
scan1926.jpg and

Size is about 30x30cm.
If there is enough interest, I can offer it for 200? incl. shipping EU (gallery price, normal price would be 350?).

Furthermore I asked whether he would personalize the prints. That means instead of the copy number (bottom left, usually 10/75 or similar) the chassis number, and the car in the original color. And he said yes.
We did not speak about that, but I suppose 25? will do.
That also means, of course, that this would only be something for Elan S3 DHC.

If there was enough interest from the S1/S2 fraction, you could also make a version for them. I forsee Coupe & S4/Sprint a bit more difficult ....

So, please, make your comments.
Thanks

Regarding the art, the 2CV is more appealing than the Elan. Driving them would be a different story.

I don't think dumping a line drawing of an Elan on top of a random abstract image of what looks like a woman saying "Ouch!" constitutes art. But as ever it is a highly subjective matter. My opinion is that it looks ridiculous.

As an across the pond meddler, might there be a bigger market for an Elan on top of Theresa May's head? This one is definitely on the soft side. :)
