Request for European Elan Specialists for Buckland's Book

PostPost by: gherlt » Tue Apr 09, 2019 12:46 pm

Hi all,
Brian has updated the "Lotus Specialists" section - will be available to all buyers .
I miss a list of "continental" Elan Specialists.
The only ones I know is Brammer Parts in Germany (for parts & knowledge) and Kirsten (for racing engines).
I knew Bruno Schaffner in Switzerland, but he retired and I do not know about his successor (Bruno Waibl).

So, a request to all Elan owners on the continent:

Who would you consider an Elan Specialists ??

Please add a description for what he is specialist/expert/...
full address, phone, web, etc etc
Of course I will not include everybody, he must be active,
he needs to be "nominated" not just by one person, ...

Thanks !

HI - the swiss loti specialists are limited: it's still bruno schaffner racing but bruno waibel took over. his backround is of course newer cars but he's gettin there. schaffner still does most of the race engines. there's another two of: kumschick in central switzerland with a boss you tend to dislike and their knowledge is not to compare with schaffner PLUs Ford Zentrum outside of st. gallen BUT they basically sell new loti and know f.... all about OUR old buddies sandy

Hello Sandy,
I know Kumschick, have been there a lot of times looking at their cars, but they always had Esprits and race cars in their workshops, so I do not really want to include them as ELAN specialists. Pfenninger had also M100, Excel, Esprit. I had not seen any Elans there ...

Did the Specialists section get updated for the US as well?

The original listings are woefully inadequate and miss out numerous US specialists. Probably at least a dozen or more that should be listed and not there.

Probably other countries (e.g. Australia) that could also readily be included. The Buckland book is used worldwide. I understand the list is not for advertising purposes but rather to be of meaningful assistance to those that are engaged with their Elans.

The existing list in my original edition is virtually UK centric and, even at that, missing UK entries.

That is why I am asking for help from the forum.
Yes, it was and is UK centric. Brian said to me, he lists people he knows and works with.

Currently the update includes 4: RD Enterprises, Dave Bean, JAE and Automat (carpets)

I am asking for specialists ... engine workshop/rebuilders, body/paint specialist, wiring looms/cabling, trimming, rare parts ... ?
