Hi Guys,
I recently aquired a Yellow/White Sprint ETN 473K which apparently was
featured in Brian Buckland's book.
As this book now seems to be unobtainable I wonder if anyone who is lucky enough
to have a copy would be kind enough to let me know if my car is mentioned and, if possible,
some details of the content.
Thanks,
Ernie Felix,
(Nodbe).

I just looked at it and I found some pictures of a yellow over white Sprint, but there is no registration visible.

Your Sprint was rebuilt from a burnt out wreck several years ago by a member on this forum, elanfan. It came off the production line at Hethel in August 1971 as a FHC and was first registered on 21 September 1971 in Newcastle.
Given the nature of Brian's book, a workshop addendum, the photos tend to be of parts or parts of a whole car. Perhaps the attached is the most meaningful page showing your car. I hope Brian will excuse me for reproducing it here.

Thanks Guys ('specially Tim for the pics etc),
Have now been in touch with Steve Loader (who did the rebuild after the fire) who
has very kindly sent me lots of info and pics.
Now hoping to get more history ( Steve did have almost complete history but this
went with the car when he sold it to Richard Ashby ) so now I'm trying to get previous
owner details from DVLA ( Hope springs eternal !! ).
If anyone has anything to help or any additional info I'd most grateful.
Thanks,
ERNIE.

Sorry to use this unconventional approach but I have purchased ETN 473K (at auction, so it was obviously "sold as seen") and I am hoping to contact Ernie Felix/Nodbe in the hope that he can help me with a few questions (and, so, save me wasting time figuring out some questions. Examples are:
- Why was the brake servo removed and is the one that came with the car kaput?
- Has the cylinder head been modified for unleaded?
- Which specialists have worked on the car most recently?
- Why was the windscreen washer set up in the unusual (if effective) way it was?
My wife became seriously ill very shortly after I bought the car, so I ended up putting it in secure storage, which was not at all what I planned. Happily, my wife is fully recovered now and I am keen that ETN 473K should recover also, so any information about other issues I should plan to address would be greatfully received.
I can be contacted via this post or on 07852 897 631 or at [email protected].

ALL cylinder heads from the factory and all refreshes ever since have steel valve seats suitable for unleaded fuels.
There is no cure for Lotus, only treatment.
