I can't recall the last time I saw an Elan on the road locally but my day just got better :D
16:00hrs. B311 Red Road, Frimley.
A nice looking blue soft top with roll bar,
Anybody here?

It's national drive it day in the UK today, so statistically it's the best chance of seeing a rare classic on the road!

My +2 was out there today, purely coincidental. Between Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells.
Kindest regards

Well it was not me but my yellow S4 was driven along Red Road twice today at about 9am and again at about 5.30pm.

I was on my regular trip over to Brooklands from Camberley which the Elan does at least a couple of times every week.

Drive it day at Brooklands was well attended but not many Lotus of any description. There was another yellow S4 and a Lotus Cortina, might have been more but that was all I saw.

I was about to head over there today but we sprung a leak at home so I spent the day replacing the hot water cylinder instead :(

It's raining in Texas and I'm too lazy to dig out the top.

Mrs O & I have just had a week touring round the Suffolk/Essex boarder area in the Elan & finished it off with a visit to Kersey mill for the Drive it day event. The weather was very kind & there were lots of really nice cars but, with the exception of a Sunbeam Talbot Lotus, ours was the only Lotus there. Daimler Darts were out in force, never seen so many in the same place at the same time, must have been getting on for 40 of em

Woodhall Spa. Lived nearby many years ago - is the Petwood Hotel still there (there used to have a small museum to the Dambusters who were based there during the war)? Many good roads from Bardney to Horncastle and on to Cadwell Park..

(Apologies for veering off-topic for a moment) --

Fred, I know Bellville must have gotten hit pretty hard -- we're in Bastrop with family in Houston. I was going to try to send you a note off-group but can't do so, maybe because I've just joined the group. Would you do me the honor of a reply?

I'm thinking about buying a S3 Elan and was hoping to find someone nearby that owns one so I can see one up close and get more familiar with the details of an Elan. I just sold my '57 Morgan Plus 4 on Bring a Trailer, leaving a hole in the garage...

Hi Duncan,

I am in Austin (~71/I35 junction), I have a +2 not an Elan but as they quite a bit of overlap between the cars I thought you might be interesting in taking a look at it given your relatively close (Texas speaking that is).

Cheers,

Mark
