Woo hoo - Out of Storage

PostPost by: pharriso » Tue May 05, 2015 5:11 pm

After the snowy winter that we've had this year it was with great delight that I brought the Elan out of storage at the weekend

Smiles all round!

Went for a first blast around the neighbourhood... simply magic! :D

Same here; great isn't it?

Except in my case it was, laziness rather than snow, which kept the car indoors.

The car looks grrrreat,, how's it going after the lay up? However, your hair now needs a trim.

Brought mine out for the first time last Tuesday

Tuesday: 10 mile checkout (found she needed a new traficator bulb)
Thursday: 91 mile spin with a friend

Sat/Sun: approx 200 mile round trip for a family meeting.

What's a "traficator" (sic)? Do you mean indicator? Shirley you don't have Trafficators on your car?
Definition of trafficator in English:
noun

British
An obsolete kind of signalling device on the side of a motor vehicle, having the form of a small illuminated pointer which could be extended to indicate a change of direction.
EXAMPLE SENTENCES
Bill changed direction quickly in the S3, but let others know his intentions by deploying his trafficators.
Hand signals may be dispensed with in the new Williams Elan by using the built in Trafficators

Yeah, yeah... I'm OLD Alan. I learned driving in the days of trafficators and so that is the word that comes to mind.

"indicators" is a meally-mouthed word anyway, who knows what it is indicating. Most indicators are on the dashboard & indicate things like "your main beam is on", " your cooling fan is running", "Alan is behind you and is about to overtake in his Zetec powered +2", etc

Really a beautiful car, see that you also have removed this terrible looking side lamps that are only on the federal cars.

You're not old Bill, the use of the word trafficator tickled me and I thought I would rib you a little. I'm sure that your elan keeps you young anyway.

I would love to see that overtake instrument/indicator that you mention though!

Caught a glimpse of a red DHC with rollbar, heading eastbound on 225 in Westord last night. You're lookin' good!

That would be me! A fine evening to be out. Took the back roads home through Westford to avoid paving and general chaos in Chelmsford center.
