S3 SE DHC, UWT 43F

Hi

Just found this forum and thought I'd try to track down my old car. As in the title it was S3 SE DHC, UWT 43F. I bought it around 1973, used it as my sole transport for a few years then stripped it down ready for a new chassis. Never got around to putting it back together and eventually sold it as a box of parts to Paul Matty in 2002. Someone contacted me shortly afterwards, said he was the new owner and asked for help with the history. I dug out old photos, receipts etc and sent them off but never heard anything more from the guy.

So, does anyone know this car? Is it back on the road or still just a bag of bits?

Cheers

Its still alive. Listed as being first registered on 23 March 1968 in Leeds, currently 'taxed' and MoT'd.

Try Club Lotus or the Lotus archivist.

Mike,

The Leeds area is covered by North Yorkshire Lotus Owners Club (NYLOC) they have a web site which I think is nyloc.org Might be worth trying to find your car via NYLOC.

Thanks Tim and Richard.

I'm pleased but also disappointed that it is back on the road. I only sold it because I was moving to the Caribbean and had nowhere to store the parts. Now I'm back, retired, I have the time for a project and would have loved to get the old car back if it was still off the road. Have to look somewhere else I suppose.

Hello Mike
I am the owner who contacted you some years ago regarding the above car and you kindly sent some details and photos of the car being wheeled into place for its strip down.

The car is completely restored and rebuilt and has been on the road for 3-4 years now since completing the rebuild some 10 years after I bought the pile of bits off paul matty

It is all original spec and has some subtle performance mods.

I attach a picture of the car and if you'd like some more info or pictures -let me know or send me a pm

Hope this solves the mystery for you and good luck with finding and project elan and they are hard to find in the right state !

Regards

Nick Navas :)
