Well that's it sprayed, assembly starting next week after final polishing! All pretty much on schedule. Mind you, there will be a huge sigh of relief when the glass is back in!

Hi Paul, we decided against the cut and shut route for the doors, as my car is a fairly early s4(in fact much, including wiring, is actually s3), so before the main warping issue, I believe. Dorian is sure he can get a good fit, but if not, we will be sorting it out after the wedding.
Can't wait to see what the finished job looks like!

Back in the workshop for refitting over the next couple of days. It was a bit of a shock to see the high sheen "gun finish" being flatted today, but the end result is well worth it.

Looks fantastic and you seem to be staying well on schedule. Just curious, How much time do you think you will have to do some "shakedown runs" with it after the fitting and fettling prior to the wedding?

Luckily all was A1 mechanically before we started on the body, so we're not anticipating too many problems. The only issues I can imagine will be with lighting connections, but I think I am allowing enough time to sort them out, fingers crossed!

Does anyone know of the best source for suitable front number plate characters?
I've had a look through the archives but can't seem to find anything relevant.

Ray,

she looks stunning already, even though she isn't reassembled yet!

(what a lovely colour - suits the car perfectly)

Ray,
If you are referring to the numbers and letters that attach to the grill/inlet mesh, I obtained mine from this chap: stevenson.dr@btinternet dot com or 07931 862669.
Cheers,
Colin.

That's indeed a lovely yellow, stunning in natural light. Any idea on the paint brand/type or code used? I have an s3 coupe I'm restoring and still deciding on color but that's further down the road.
I' m in the U.S. so not sure if the same brand would be available, but still curious.

Thanks,

David D.

That second picture has caused a bit of interest on Facebook(classic elan and plus2 group, or some such name) someone it putting the picture up on a board of "smiling cars" mainly dominated by MX5s.
Still on schedule. I put in a few hours today finishing the lights, air filter and windscreen washers, whilst both screens were fitted expertly,a new battery box fabricated, and numerous little jobs done by the ever cheerful Dorian and Liam.
In between they managed to get numerous other people's work done as well, as well as helping me with advice, tools and anything needed.
