1966 Coupe

PostPost by: PDXjunkman » Tue Feb 03, 2015 12:47 am

Greetings,
In case any of you stumble across a 1966 Coupe for sale on e-bay I thought it best to let you know that this is my project car that I was hoping was going to be a stable mate for my S1. My intentions were to make a neat track day/weekend street car. Life had other plans however. My wife and I recently found out that our daughter has type 1 diabetes and the sale of the car will help differ some medical costs which is a great thing. If anyone has questions about the car do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to answer them.
Regards
Silas

ps I can't claim to be anywhere near an expert on all things Lotus so I would also welcome any corrections or obsevations on the Coupe.

Sorry your having to sell the car and it looks like a nice project to complete so I hope it sells well.

The engine is an early one and not the original one for the car but all the components appear consistent with it being a complete early engine ( does the same LP number appear on the block as the head?). It appears to have been out of a race car based on the blanked off mechanical tach drive on the front cover so having been a Cosworth prepared engine originally is not out of the question.

cheers

Looks like steel main caps, the rods don?t look standard either.
Good luck.

Item # 391044396744, you'd get way more for it assembled...

Given the cause I hope it fetches what you want.

Looks like the car also got a new hood (Bonnet) with the bulge when it had the front end accident. I don't think the bulge existed originally on the S3 coupe but was introduced for the Stromberg S4 in late 67 early 68.

Bonnet not correct for a 1966 car but I had a 1968 S3 on Weber?s with a bulge in the bonnet, no reason to believe it was not from new. Lots of inconsistencies especially around model change, you got what the factory had!
