Help On Starting an S4...

OK here's the story. My newly acquired car has a lot of the wires disconnected & to top it off - it has an alternator & a high torque starter. I have the beautiful wiring diagrams from this site but am confused as to how to do a minimal wiring job to see if the motor runs. I noticed that the diagram shows the 340 control box which isn't on the car now. Do I need it with my steup?

Thanks

There's a ton of stuff on the web about setting up an alternator in an old British car. The best site I've found, one that makes it sound simple, is http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/electric/ac101.htm
