Hmmm.

I received a PM this morning from a Newtral with just one (2013) posting:

"I would like to purchase your Elan, please send me your telephone number"

The message came allegedly from some one in the US.

This got me thinking - how do we know that contributors to the forum actually live in the country which they say they do?

Hi Steve...............

I remember searching for Harrow in Scotland last time we communicated

Rather than ever respond in writings to such a request first ask them to supply their landline number.........and tell them you will call them.

Regards

They may like one until they tried driving from Apapa to Tin Can Island, they would soon change their mind !!

That brings back memories!

We used to drive the Agege Motor Road almost daily north of Apapa back in 1976.

Watching 8 lanes of traffic trying to get under a 2 lane bridge was always entertaining.

If I remember rightly I was out there only shortly after they switched from driving on the left to driving on the right.

Seeing packed scheduled bus services with a uniformed driver coming towards you on the wrong side of a dual carriageway was also entertaining. This was a common occurrence - along with the 100s of other vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road each and every day.

But one of the most memorable incidents I witnessed was a fully laden truck heading the wrong way up a slip road on the newly opened Apapa Expressway. When he reached the Expressway he decided he didn't want to head into the oncoming traffic in the wrong carriageway. Instead he smashed into the central reservation (numerous times) until he had made a gap large enough to get his truck through. He then drove through the gap and continued his journey (in the correct carriageway).

Steve
Were you there when the Expressway ended 50ft up in the air and the locals kept removing all the Crash Barriers and making it into Forks and Spoons for sale the next day in the Market !!.
We were out there in 78 running the stores in the Port and rebuilding the Forklifts / Tractors
