Dashboard differences??

Just from looking at pictures it seems the Series 2 dashboard is much taller than the S4, is this the case? Will an S4 dash otherwise fit an S2 car?

One point you need to be aware of is that the height/position of the steering column differs for some years.

Can someone remind us why?..............or am I wrong?
