Thanks MBell, we have but the results are inconclusive, and do not pinpoint the specific car.

Rob/everyone

I've just bought an Elan +2 that has a compass on the dash. I haven't seen any like this before. Do you happen to know if it's similar to the Avengers one you're talking about?

Has anyone else got one of these? Seems like a odd but fairly nice accessory - if a little quaint.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.

A compass was a fairly common auto accessory in the 60's and 70's.

Please tell us more about your car, photos are always appreciated.

Hi Mazzini,

it's actually in pieces lol! I only bought it recently thinking it was just the rolling body and chassis, but it came as a complete car!

I wanted to do a Zetec conversion, but I reckon now I'll rebuild it as is. Do you think this compass may be original then? I assumed it was aftermarket.

If you want to see some pics of the project they're here on my shared google account - https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM ... RuTUM1WUF3

Quite a jigsaw puzzle you have there. :)

I expect the compass is aftermarket.

I bought one back in the 70's with a sucker to stick on the windscreen. I used it to dive NE to E in Paris to avoid the centre while en-route to Switzerland.

I think it's aftermarket too as someone has done a somewhat unique crashpad recover. The PO certainly liked red :D :D - crashpad, parcel shelf, manifold, Airbox and cover, oil filter to name but a few.

One hell of a project you have there. Are you planning a total restoration? What sort of timescale do you have in mind?

Original thread now well and truly hijacked -Rossua -start a new thread on your car and it will act as a record for you progress and keep all your queries in one place.
