Lotus Elan Crash - Beatles Link

PostPost by: Bahamayellow » Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:25 pm

My other mode of transport other than my Sprint is a 1071 Cooper 'S' and this link came up when looking at a beatles linked mini that sold last weekend. It's a bit morbid but interesting that a fatal crash in an Elan inspired the Beatles song 'A Day in The Life'

"I was writing A Day In The Life with the Daily Mail propped in front of me on the piano. I had it open at their News in Brief, or Far and Near, whatever they call it. I noticed two stories. One was about the Guinness heir who killed himself in a car. That was the main headline story. He died in London in a car crash"
John Lennon

Did this car survive?

A sad story and a waste of a life, but an interesting addition to the Lotus history montage.
