I have seen this tank location on a number of Federal 69/70 Elans. It was never listed in the Elan Service Parts List. The disadvantage is that the banjo bolt fuel pick up tends to get filled with rust/debris and can restrict fuel flow and cause fuel starvation. It also make changing the diff and or diff mounts more problematic. Later Elans reverted to the boot floor location. The battery location is non-stock and copied from a Plus 2. It enables you to fit a larger battery.
