Lotus Books - Bruce Brammer

PostPost by: niagra » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:43 am

Hi all,

Has anyone bought a book from Bruce lately? I bought one at the end of October but still have not received it, despite having a dispatch email. I've checked the tracking number but this does not seem to work and after several emails to Bruce, have not received any replies. Does anyone know if he is on holiday or something? I'm a trusting person and assume he is away or cannot answer his emails for other reasons, so thought I'd see if anyone knows anything before I start getting annoyed!

Thanks,
Dario

This is the guy that is producing dodgy copies of books. If he is producing dodgy copies perhaps he himself is a bit .....

Hi Dario

I assume he sent you a quote or an invoice. Then he usually wants cash with the order and a copy of the invoice so he has the details for despatch.

I have bought several books from him over the last 5 years. He can take a couple of weeks, and is slow to respond to e-mails but is basically OK in my experience. Last book was bought in September 2012. He used to take UK cheques in Stirling and then there was a long wait while it cleared. Last time I got so fed up with all the variuos "Bankers" charging vast amounts to send him around 40Euro's that I just put the Euros in an envelope in the post and the book arrived about 15 days later.

Hope it all works out

best of luck

Bob

I paid with paypal, which means he got the money immediately, he also sent me an email stating that he had dispatched the book and included a tracking number for DHL/Deutsche Post which doesn't seem to work. I've opened a dispute with paypal, as unless he has a good reason, three emails without a response is not good enough customer service in my opinion.

Here's hoping it arrives soon as I'm looking forward to reading all about fibreglass 8) .

Wish I had a dollar for every day I've spent waiting for DHL deliveries...appallingly slow, in my experience

It's arrived!! Not sure what I was expecting but it looks to be a copy, but it is the fibreglass book and the paintwork book so should do me.

Did the original book have b&w photos or colour?

Some colour , some B/W but the text is the bit that is important.
Too be honest I still think that Bruce does us all a service and I know all the legal malarkey but I still have my Miles Wilkins Twin Cam Book Copy for use in the garage, which was a good backstop until I was able to get an orginal ........ (which incidentally came as present from a former forum member!)
