Classic car rescue

This programme gets worse by the week! Watched them rebuild an MBGGT yesterday. No way was that car the same car that they started restoring. Its compulsive viewing just to see how bad it is. I honestly dont think that the presenters have a clue

I agree, its so bad and 18 pages of this Piston Head thread seem to agree as well!

I stopped watching it after the first episode as well, when they picked up some discs and an exhaust out of a skip for a fiver and then supposedly fitted them to a restored car, well, it just had to go. I was chuckling away so much it was annoying my missus who was reading at the time....

But whatever you say about the programme, it's certainly made it's mark and got PR for those pair and Ch5 because there's a fair bit of discussion about it, even if it's of the type "I wonder how bad tonight's show will be ?".

So it worked....

Interesting they made a big show of removing the sunroof but no mention of fitting new wings or repairing other known areas of rust on them. No mention either of the fact that the value should have been affected by converting to chrome bumpers or the ride height needing to be lowered at the same time.
Yes I suppose I will still watch to see how poor they do a restoration making me feel good about mine. Even my wife commented on it in the short time that she was in the room as in years gone by we had owned and restored a couple of B's.

S4 going for a ride tomorrow to a friends garage for us to check compression and set up of the Webbers and to see if I have missed anything before it goes on the road.

Pictures to be posted in the next few day of the latest addition to the stable and it will be interesting to hear comments as I believe someone on here also looked at it prior to me being the highest bidder on e-bay on the evening of the opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.

its the same guy that did a sky tv programme.....chop shop......
the mechanic bloke that is......
Im sad to say that I watched a couple of those programmes too...

an Indian guy called Leepu made his own creations from a rolling chassis....
cant say there was one I liked......and Bernie..the lairy Cockney built em.....

the format is exactly the same only now its classic cars......disagreement all the way and banging about having a strop etc etc etc...slamming doors, going off in a huff......

The Jag brake discs from the skip did it for me too... Only superceded by the MG bullet wing mirrors from the man that gave his stock away... But loh new rectangular ones fitted for the over-valuation.

With staged arguments and industrial relations, they at least ought to have employed people who could act.

The rear axle fell off because someone took the bolts out

For a TV programme that can't even get the politically correct health and safety right it says it all - but maybe that is the only good thing about the show.

R+M shoud consider their reputation.

You could win this car - why?

Certainly agree with that! I have made a mental note never to believe anything they ever do again.

I would like to win that car.

For the obvious reason that theres no way they would offer a vehicle as a prize that hadn't been looked at by a proper expert (off-screen) as to its road-worthiness.

Oh, I'd then sell it & buy something decent ;-)

Soooo many TV programs are into this rush-it-all business..

TIME TEAM ... only 3 days to do extensive archaeological excavations.
THE RENOVATION GAME: Patch up a house in 3 days & see if the team can increase its value by ?15K

No doubt you can think of others.

So this CLASSIC CAR BODGE-UP is just another of the same ilk.

Found a great spoof program on the net called 'pimp my wife', almost more realistic than some of the car based versions ... LOL :D
