Had my Elan now over 12 months. In the first 374 days did just over 5,000 km or 3,035 miles. It is a series one chassis 0425, essentially standard except for period magnesium minilites.
In that time the only problem was the chassis earth in the boot caused me to push start it twice before I found the root cause.
How's this compare with you guys out there?

Just under my average 3200 miles for the last twenty years.
Is your battery in the boot? Mine is in the special cavity behind the LH seat and grounds at the seat runner. It can be used as a "dicky" seat by slim people.

I've had my S4 for over 30 yrs and I've done around 120/130,000 miles in it (a bit vague as it's on its third speedometer). That's about 4000 miles per year. But there were two periods where I got bored with it all, dumped it in the garage and forgot about it. The first period was nine years and the second, five. Subtracting those fourteen years ups the (when it's running) average to 7500 miles / yr.
I'm probably only doing half of that per year in the current epoque so my early years average must have been closer to 10,000. Probably about right as it was my only transport for many years back in the 80's.

The best I managed was 14996 miles from '77 to '78. The next three years were between 10 and 11000. The last full year on the road I did 13588. These were all MOT to MOT.
The total mileage so far is 133092, 81000 that I added from March '75, recorded when the car was towed home after it was found abandoned having been stolen in '89. It has not been on the road since!

I went for the Massachusetts annual inspection with Beauregard yesterday (I was 3 months late but the S2 has been parked since the end of July when it expired) The last printed report stated 52120, the new print out was 53752 so that means 1632 miles on the under reading odometer, my guess is about 1500 miles and a bit for the year. I thought it would have been more as I was out in it most every week last winter.

When I bought my Elan new in February, 1966, I immediately drove it from New Jersey to California. In the first month of ownership, it had 4,500 miles on the clock. That has to be some kind of record. It was my daily driver here in California for several years and did over 20,000 miles a year. Both of us have slowed down.

My Elan does around 1600km / 1000 miles a year currently but almost all of it is at 8000 rpm on the track which I count as equivalent to 20 times that distance on the road in terms of wear and tear and 100 times more in terms of enjoyment
My Plus 2s 130/5 and S1 Esprit probably get a combined use of around 5000 kms / 3000 miles a year of mainly weekend use now but I have done over 200,000 km in then over the last 25 years when they were more daily drivers
cheers

I drove mine the other way in 1966, California to Pittsfield, Mass. I had it shipped back in 1968. I have about 75,000 miles and do around 500 miles/year. Not much driving in the winter around here. My hats off to the daily drivers out there.
