Elan raced on East Coast, late 60s>early 70s

I acquired this car from a fellow near Summit Point in 1973 and continue an attempt to trace its history back from that point with little success. One source suggested that it got to the States via the Bahammas Speedweeks but I've never gotten far on that track. So I've decided to go "a picture is worth..." route and offer these 2 shots, one in b&w/sepia of it at an SCCA race and one of it partially obscured but showing the color when I bought it. Any insight to its origin/early life would be greatly appreciated!

Any chance you can put up some current pictures of the car and details like front rear suspension, wheels rear uprights. Current pictures are poor angle and resolution to see if flared or not but seems like chinese eye 26R style front body work. What year is the car?
Try Dave Hughes he has fair bit of info on cars that raced is us from resarching his car.

Sorry Ed nothing like your car. It's a genuine S2 26R or lightweight as they were known in the USA.
I see at long last you have decided to accept the numbering system that is used for the 26R cars and changed your chassis number to suit, at least it would now comply with the accepted system.
By the way 26-R-9 was still in my garage when I put my grandson's bike away yesterday.
Cheers
Dave
