What's it worth ?

As I am in Australia, where I think the Elan is severely under valued, and as I am considering selling this, and as I have no idea of UK prices, I am open to your views on what this is worth, in the UK market.
The vehicle in question is a 1963 Lotus Elan series one. Chassis number is in the very early 200's, and has been fully restored to original condition.
The car was imported into Australia, left the Lotus factory in October 1963, by the Geoghehan brothers in Sydney, original soft top with Geoghehan sticker still attached, and was sold to a Brisbane disc jockey, name of Bill Gates, one of the original Bee Gee's managers. He raced the car from 1964 to mid 1966.
The car is very original, including red oxide original chassis, painted Lotus nose badge, Lotus chassis plate and Bourne build plate, concave gear knob, aluminium knobbed steering wheel, dash gauges and knobs. 28,500 original miles.
Close ratio gear box, not the original motor, but a later version, with the better oil galleries, 3:55 diff.

Easily comparable with the S1 for sale on ebay UK for ?39000 - looks very nice indeed. Only thing you don't seem to have mentioned is the chassis - original unchanged or replacement?
Would have thought you might get some offers through this thread!

In Australia I would price it between A$30k to A$40k which is what i have seen recent similar cars sell for.
In the UK they seem to sell for more and in the US less.
In Australia you get a better price in relative terms for a rundown unrestored early Elan for conversion to a historic racer than you would for a fully restored road car that is to good to convert for a competition car.
regards
Rohan

I think its as nice as any S1 I've seen. Its an easy $40K US car. The fact that its not a race car and looks 95% original (motor upgrade with better rods helps here) and Bourne body -WOW. You won't like where the price of these S1s end up in 5 years from now for what matter how much money you get for it today.
