Hi all,
Yes as the stated subject says...lots of trouble, usually serious! Having had the lotus on the road for nearly 18 months now, I took the Mrs out on a classic car run and let her drive it for the first time. She said (with a smile on her face) it felt like a beast pulling at the leash wanting to go faster and faster. Now my serious problem is, and I dont know if anyone has a solution to it, she's taken the key and wont give me it back!!!
Any help greatly appreciated, especially if you've had this problem before.

I sussed this out long back time back the thought of scuffed alloys and car park dings. I left the roundabout at Saltdean (traffic lights now, grrrrrr)and the duel carriageway that used to open up in front of you, hit the outside lane 120 up the hill she screamed all the way never again to get into a LOTUS...good fun and a result,
I want to make it clear that I don?t think all wives are bad drivers
Mine is but she will not admit it!!!

Mine was whistling down the M6 and we pulled off for fuel. She went flying down the slip road and right across a car park (Thankfully empty) and heading for the pumps now with me shouting at her to slow down (In our +2s130).She ''came to'' quickly then an stood on the brakes. We arrived at the pumps sideways. She just hopped out of the car looking like she meant it and began fueling.. I went off to pay shaking like a leaf.

I drove the rest of the way then.. Do you think she was playing said game with me ... As above??

It worked! :( Feckin scary that was....

She started to drive the car just outside of the town, just had to go round one round about and one village no morning traffic,
20 miles in all, I've driven at 4000 revs she went 4500,(smiling) (speedo doesn't work, will have to get one that does)round bends (wet road) faster than I would  coming down hill to Killarney she screams out "I CANT FIND THE BRAKES"!!! No worries...only a big bus in front, I go to pull the hand brake up forgetting there's not one on the transmition tunnel, she hits the accelerator by mistake..revs go through the roof..then she hits the break and we screech to a halt, fortunately nothing behind. Didn't knock a stir out of her she just drove through the town to the meeting point and then she drove 2 more times on the 150 mile run on the ring of Kerry. As she drives faster than me, scare tactics don't work unfortunately :( Still looking for solutions.

Bought her a Honda S2000 with the lovely heater, handbrake and the electric hood. Worked a treat.

120?! my God, you must have some serious firepower! I used to love that hill and the roundabout, got pulled by a traffic cop once for "racing a BMW M3", I wasn't even aware of a BMW, I was just driving to work trying to shave a tenth off my usual time! Then I moved there and they turned into a 30mph single carraigeway and a bus lane, rubbish. Moved away since in protest.

I know what you mean OP, luckily my wife is a very good driver. Although she still exhibits that exclusively female trait of thinking it's acceptable to allow the door to touch the neighboring car in a car park.
