I presume that included at least one substantial person in the car?

the empty weight but with fuel and other fluids should be around 720 kg

cheers

While I had the S3 in for the MOT yesterday, the tester was asking which S it was as "......the S2 is heavier" he mentioned something about 8xx kg and something about the hanbrake efficiency test being weight dependant - so 844kg could be what they have in their tables

The dimensions and weights are listed in the Elan Workshop Manual and over the years the Elan grew just like people did. Most of it was due to creature comforts added to make the Elan more attractive to a wider range of potential customers.

My current S2 with no sound deadening or other creature comforts is close to 1300 lbs. at the moment. It will probably gain more as time rolls on. :)
The 1260 lbs listed in the weigh stub below is with alloy gear case, tail shaft and differential case. The iron bit are in there currently.

I heard CABC used to go to the production line and weigh samples, as the weight would go up, if not supervised.

I like that.. On the way to get the MOT I drive along the seafront where the local winos and down and outs get there bread and soup set up by a local church. I was stopped by the traffic lights in full view of the drunken crowd of which in their drunken world stumbled to form a kind of line and also suggested i was large, I wish I had my camera on me . LOL

I wonder if your MOT man looked at Elan +2S on his tables, as 844kg is about the lardiness of one of these.

I think they may have been the grandfathers (two generations before) of ACDC!
