So what does your Elan/Plus2 look like today?

You are parked far too close to that hovercraft !!
Slightly confused by everything since the invention of the wheel.

Interesting wind tunnel but I think Lotus has finished with the aerodynamic development on the Elan.

new knock of 26R wheels (to suit 5 peg drive hubs) fitted by my mate Alan and finished off with alloy spinners from BigValveHead, all looking good and roof off for summer.
Alas some nasty fires here yesterday, stuck in traffic over harbour bridge and sure is easy to take pics with the roof off. fires are mainly in the Blue Mountains but smoke everywhere, hopefully the few Elans I know in the mountains are okay.

Not today, last weekend on the Throckmorton Challenge, see http://www.heroevents.eu/Events/thethro ... gallery_5/
I`ve scanned 1 of the 15 tests, bear in mind they`re set on the old runways at RAF Pershore which are about as wide as both carriageways of the M1. At the start, from Elan height, you can just see a mass of cones, cone C is about 300 yards away, so whilst driving as fast as possible the driver is totally reliant on the navigator. We had been running around 10th most of the day but 1 crucial error on the final regularity compounded to drop us to 19th. Still the top third though.

Gordon, any closeups of the wheels? The fire smoke looks terrible!

DSC02736.JPG and
Kelvedon Motors in the UK sells the wheels. With the correct spinners, you are looking at upwards of 3K USD, before shipping.

Kelsport (Kelvedon) do the wheels, advantage with them is you can use standard 5 peg drive hubs so a significant cost saving and if you have 26R guards a good option (though I was tempted by Minilites with polished rim and dark centre).
Mine are 6x13 Alloy but 5 and 51/2 also available and either Alloy or Mag
Issues to be aware of:
lead time - quoted 3 weeks and became 3 months
thickness - you get 6 turns of the spinner on the hub which with normal spinners is fine and what appears to be standard but with the open spinners it is a bit disconcerting to see the spare thread.
Offset - I used Plus 2 hubs on the read as I had masses of room with the 26R guards and still had to grind a bit off the end of the wishbones
Tyres are A048 175 front 185 rear, I get around 18 months out of a set using it as a daily driver.
