the car is running like a rocket!!! Took it out for a run with a friend in his MGB leaving him in the dust and at the first stop light tiny swirls of electrical smoke delicately swirled in the most artistic manner from behind the dash and up the demister . I watched for a while with my hand on the master off switch and the other on the fire bottle handle till the light changed and motored off with the charming odour of saut?ed wire coating in my nostrils . I guess Ill have to geeve a look ..BUGGAR ---ed

Hmmm the dreaded blue smoke, luckily I have had that only once on my Lotus, and that was when I reconnected the original radio and blue smoke poured from it when I turned it on. Fearing the worst, I opened the radio up to find that the jumper converting the radio from positive to negative earth was still on the positive earth side whil the car had ben converted to negative earth (DPO obviously didn't know how to change it and just disconnected the radio), and once I switched it over all worked perfectly, and that has been ovr ten years now.
Clearly these systems are cleverly manufactured with an of excess blue smoke which allows you to locate the elctrical problem before fatal disaster occurs. Quite an ingeneous warning system really when you think about it, uses two of the major senses initially: sight (smoke), smell (smoke smell). Ignoring these initial warning signs allows the other senses to come into play: touch (heat from the fire that results), sound (the crackling noise as fibreglass burns) and taste (the gagging on vomit at the realization that your pride and joy is in flames).

Master Po: Close your eyes. What do you smell?
Young Caine: I smell the oil, I smell the coolant.
Po: Do you smell your own wiring?
Caine: No.
Po: Do you smell the short which is in the dashboard in front of you?
Caine: Old man, how is it that you smell these things?
Po: Young man, how is it that you do not?
cue scene of Caine receiving his self administered brand.....

He forgot to capture it...
That must be this one...
Actually, you can make a Samsung micriwave oven smell exactly the same as a loom BBQ.

My one problem is that distance keeps me from my Elan. (36/5395)
