Janus,
A "Gold Leaf Elan" is only a Sprint painted in Gold Leaf colours, that is (was?) a cigarette company who I think were sponsoring Lotus in F1 at the time, same goes for a "JPS" car (black and gold)
Gold Leaf colours were red/white and gold (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so this Elan is not technically a Gold Leaf but it looks like a very nice car.

@ M100
how did you find it out....I'm still learning
here is a picture from the underneath
the car has no replacement chassis
sorry couldn't resize the pictures; actually I thought tinypic.com would do that for me

Find out what? if you are refering to the oil leak, it can be seen under the car in the first pic and on the exhaust on the second pic......could be leaking from the slave cyl. although there's a bit to much on the ground, most likely its the rear crank seal but thats a guess.
From the second pic it looks like its been recently painted black underneath (including the sump!) probably for sale.
Have you driven the car? is it on Webers/Dellotors?
Lets see a pic of the engine.

Fun and Games. When does a paint job have anything to do with the driveability or performance of any automobile? When it's a Lotus Elan. Has this car been repainted? Check the chassis closely, that underside picture is scary and the price even more so.

Looks like someone took a rattlecan of glossy black paint to cover over and hide the corrosion on the chassis. Buyer beware!
