Various problems

PostPost by: elan_fan » Sun Nov 07, 2010 5:26 pm

I have been making steady progress on my Elan and thought I would share (if only for the search function).

After freeing up the clutch as per previous thread and split fuel tee as per previous, I found a couple of problems as follows

Long brake pedal which pumps up with a couple of swift pumps but slowly goes down under medium pressure - replaced the master cylinder with Girling .7 from Susan Miller. Had to swap the pushrod with the old one. Also the return spring pulled the pedal back and broke the brake light switch, also replaced with Lucas item from Susan Miller.

Indicator repeater lights come on with reverse light and indicators come on with brakes only when side lights on - bad earth to chassis by fuel tank.

regards
