Removing Final Drive Unit

Its not too tricky from there on, honest! Just follow the steps in order as in the Workshop manual, and it comes out pretty easily. It is heavy though, so get the car as high as you safely can to give yourself plenty of manouevering room. You might need someone else in the car to help you undo the nuts on the long bolts holding the diff to the mounts, although I found wedging a large spanner against something firm worked, and then I could just undo it from below. Try not to let the diff tip up too much, or you'll have oil coming out of the breather hole on you.
Putting it back in, now that's a bit harder!

... drain the oil first! If you have the "Sprint" angle iron strengthening piece, get that out first (if you can). The diff only comes out from the left side of the car and you may have to wiggle it quite a bit.
It is HEAVY so arrange someting like a box for it to slide on to.
