MYSTERY PART - ANYONE ANY IDEAS?????

Hi all,
Does anyon recognise this part - it isth last remainingpart that I haveleft over from basket of parts that my car came in 8 years ago and now at the stag of MOT'ing it.

It is a heavy gauge plate about6-7mm thick nd can't think forlife ofme where it goes - anyideas????? :| :?: :(

Thanks and if it does notfit a S3 Elan - it is free to a good home if anyoneknos what it is

No idea mate but if the woodstain is Dark Oak I'd be interested in that...

Doesn't look like an original Elan part to me especially with that thickness of Metal.
Could it have been a strengthening plate for the Engine mount area on the Frame, was there damage there maybe?
