NO MORE DROOP !

PostPost by: Verve » Wed Apr 07, 2010 7:51 am

Well , having just seen first hand , the Failsafe System on a "Baby Elan" , I can only say how good is that !o!

No more droop , perfect instant synchronised lift , will always get you home ... and you could "flash" someone , before they`ve gone past for a change , if you like ; ) !

I didn`t realise how simple the system was ... one centre vacuum pod lift with spring , attached to a connecting rod between the two headlamps and away you go !

It`s so good , I`m seriously considering converting my Sprint ... and after all it is a Lotus Design and would be in the name of reliability , particular as I use my Elan for long journies to France etc...

So , does anybody out there ( maybe those across the pond either side ) , have a redundant mechanism lying around , or know where I can get one ?

Yes, it works well. The default position is up. Spring loaded up. Vacuum (car running) is down. A vacuum leak puts the headlights back up. So the system needs to be leak free if one wishes to have their headlights in the down position all day for, say, a car show.

Hopefully, someone can chime in with all the available parts to help you out.
