Xmas Fun..

PostPost by: alexblack13 » Sat Dec 05, 2009 12:46 pm

Just sitting thinking about 'Lotus' type prezzies...

What have you guys hinted at then? Will you have any success? ... I have hinted, left mags and catalogues everywhere, and hinted very strongly... Here's hoping! Set of deep type AF sockets? Taylored cover for the Elan,

What is the worst present you ever got?? (loads of fun this! Bet this is a giggle)...Here's my effort. A few years ago we had my wife's elderly grandparents here for Xmas dinner etc and I was presented with..... 1 Old spice shaving soap stick. OK..I could have used that, don't normally use, but... However, it went in the bin when I discovered it was a bit secondhand..

Struth!!.. I would not have minded but they got thro' the wine and drank a fair amount of my Drambuie...

Have fun... & merry Xmas..May all your prezzies be big ones.

A bit secondhand?

I've never had a shockingly bad present, aside from the usual Lynx stuff, which I suspect I am decades too old for.

I know I'm definitely getting a beautiful Italian leather holdall to carry my stuff for all the Elan motoring I have planned. I've hinted, pretty sure successfully, at a Workshop Manual, as well as the "Love the Beast" DVD (the Eric Bana car documentary)...

Hi Adi, All,
Yep! 1 previous owner!  I could not hide my disgust!! They, up untill that Xmas allways gave me a bottle of whisky. Never mind!

Hope you are successfull Adi. Good taste displayed there. Those are some cool presents all right. I love the 'Lotus' bag in Green / yellow. Is that the item? Beut' ... Looked at it often. Last NEC Classic show for eg. Never thought of that for a prezzie at the time, :?

Let's hear of some horrible ones now. I am also getting a bit brassed off with the choc' oranges....

Have fun.

When I was a little Lad Father Christmas used to visit in the middle of the night & leave some presents at the end of my Bed.
One year I woke in the very early Morning to find that he'd left an old polished Mahogany Box.
Under the lid were polished Brass Switches a Bicycle Front Lamp Battery & technical looking things.
When I switched all of the Switches the box made a funny buzzing noise & when I touched the contacts the bl--dy thing nearly threw me out of my bed.
Later my Dad explained to me that when the Iron core is fully home & one Switch is moved from P (primary) to S (secondary) the Medical Shocking Machine runs at Maximum; something I'd found out for myself
I've had great respect for Electricity since; it's a Black Art.

Santa's already been to my Home; a Rotating Table (crude indexing) with 3 Jaw Chuck & some Marking out Prisms with Clamps for my Workshop. He must have known what I wanted.

Alex it's no point dropping hints, yer gettin' nowt from me :D :D :D

My missus got the message quite easily. I told her I wanted a 13" Motolita steering wheel, 3 spoked with holes, black leather rim, push button horn type, 3 and a half inch polished horn with Lotus logo (no skimping on the plastic one) and boss kit.

Job done. Easy...she's priced it up on the website but has not noted that the quoted price excludes 17.5% theft and also P&P!

I like that story, John. It re-defines the love that a father has for his son, buying him a medical shocking machine!

I just bought my Xmas prezzy, and here's the wiring diagram for it. What is the car? Christian may do well on this....

Hmm, looks like a central heating system diagram to me - radiator on the left, boiler in the middle. Wife have a hand in choosing it? :D

You're beyond help Mark! I thought you were going to cut the number of cars

My guess is it's one of those little Fiat 500 sized rear Engined Peugeots. Always fancied them myself.

Errm yes, strange Fella, my Dad; I do tend to take after him.
That Mahogany Box still sits on a shelf in my Living room

Enlighten me...is it a retro-look in-car comms system with sat-nav, phone and DVD. I think Alan Thomas was looking for one for his +2. It looks like it might fit comfortably in the passenger footwell.

Really !?! I don't known what is about .
For me , it's only an electrical sheme , in french .
If Mark says that I should know , that should be a car made by Peugeot OR citro?n .
Having a closer look , I noticed the old fashion direction lamps ; so I guess it should be an early 2cv or , from the lion side , a 203 .
How close I am !?!
Christian.

Had to order my christmas present myself from TTR. Just arrived the other day - shipping an exhaust to Australia not cheap but never seen one of his close up to compare with what I had developed locally. His race engine mounts look a treat and will certainly last and take the loads with there totally different design from the orginals. The brake pads are just a service item but rear race pads a ridiculous amount of money so need christmas to justify. The moulded oil catch tank that fits in the LH well in front of the footwell was a nice addition to replace my old fabricated one I made many years ago , plus a new set of rear Konis to round it out and reaplce the rear spaxs that are really to bouncy especially on rough Australian tracks .

Christmas has come

cheers

I ordered a low entry Sealey trolley jack then convinced via my wife for my Mother in law and sister in Law to give it to me as a present. When it arrived I nealy put my back out lifting it into the bedroom to hide from the children! (One still believes.........) I haven't moved it since (40KG)
Other presents on my list or er bought and then present giver found ...... Lotus Posters, Lotus Badge, Keyring, - Good Old Father Christmas!
Sorry to see Ed's post :(

It's clear to me that what you have there is a French tractor (Matra? Simca?) and that you need it to lay the foundations of your new enlarged garage to house all the cars you will be collecting now you have more time on your hands! :P

No Tim, I'm downsizing...honest. But every so often something comes along that is so cute I just have to have it. Christian is very close, but a bit modern. This is a Peugeot 202 Camionette, used in Paris from 1948 to deliver coal! It was then used in the French re-make of Maigret television series in the 70s / 80s, where it can be seen pottering around in the background in 20 or so episodes.

A lot of similarities with the Elan. Same top speed (but the Elan does it in first gear), hidden headlamps (nearly), runs on essence, ....I could go on....and often do. An obvious choice of stable-mate for an Elan, don't you think?
