We've just got back from the Casablanca Rally and I've attached my report, shall we say it was not our most successful rally! One thing after another seemed to go wrong. Hopefully the next one will be better - Patagonia in February this is the link http://www.roarrallies.com/future_ralli ... ?rallyId=3
Any ideas on why we kill points so quickly would be appreciated!
Enjoy your cars folks they're meant to be driven!

with conventional point system this usually means your condenser is on the way out ---ed

Coil polarity if wrong can cause point pitting ( Think of the Dist as earth so neg coil terminal goes to the dist on a neg earth car),coil winding faults or using a 10v coil with no cold start restore I like to earth the coil on fibreglass cars this will show some coil faults (insulation oil leaked out ) and stop the body of the coil sparking to say you or the carbs. And new condenser are not made the same as the old ones . so if you have a new far east type this could be the cause this would show up on a scope (Crypton).

Thanks for your comments re points and also to Neil for your video clips. I replace both points and condenser at the same time so its unlikely that all condensers are equally bad! I've checked the coil polarity and its ok - positive to distributor and positive earth. I coiud try changing the coil (the coil body is earthed). Another suggestion was excess voltage so I've checked that - it was high so I've reduced the regulator cut in/out to about 14v (was 15).
