Only issue I had with the Denso alternator kit (not sure if it came from Ray or from Dave Bean) was the supplied ground strap - the crimps on both terminals were bad, leading to no charging after a while. Since I sorted that it's been an excellent upgrade.

I love the sound of a torque wrench in the morning. Sounds like... progress.

Ed, just take solstice noting the new Evora has a Camry six in it; Toyota billed as a "Strategic Partner" by Roger Becker. Just put the Toyota decal on the alternator (bottom of course; not to obvious)
I installed the one from Bean's; looks like Ray's has a slightly different lower mount to the engine. Anyway, only issue I has was stripping one of the threaded mounting holes, so be careful or get the heli-coil ready!

Ed, so you were OK with the lower bracket attaching to the block (I have the same RD kit)? I had to throw my bracket into the milling machine to drag the mounting bolt holes forward. As it was the alternator was about 0.1" too far forward to have the vee belt pulleys lie in a plane. I also need to weld the alternator attachment "ears" completely, the kit bracket is missing quite a few inches of weld.

no mine appears to be ok --aligns the pulley OK ---only thing that's annoying is the turn buckle fouls the dip stick a bit -I thought the same thing about the weld but I seem to remember my welding teacher saying that a few short welds were stronger than a long solid weld --and stainless is a bit of over kill on the bracket as I would have preferred mild steel ----its not going to rust ------ed

Interesting, Russ. I had the same problem with the lower bracket. Ray suggested I talk with Gustafson himself and he also couldn't understand why I would have the problem. But its fixed now. I also got rid of the turnbuckle adjuster, as it got in the way of too many things. I went with a GT6 slotted arm. I think it was the curvature and the length of the slot that worked for me.

Hi Chaps,
Is there a toyota part number on that alternator? Maybe I have one already in my garage - looks similar.
I am in the UK, perhaps we could source something over here.
Kind regards

no pn I think its a Suzuki part off a Geo or some other small Jap car most likely another generic Denso part ---just in for the day to tighten the bolts on the Denso starter motor and replace the speedo inner cable ----more greasy finger prints to wipe off but its nap time - well the naps -over checked the output on the new alt 13.34 on a slightly discharged gel cell ---started with no trauma --ready to go again -ed
