IMO - at best an elan race car - if it was a 65 or earlier type 26 based car somebody would have picked it up by now.

Looks like a fine Elan S4 race car. Don't you know though, that every Elan racer today is a 26R!!!! That's just the way it is today. Although I can't tell much from the photos other than it's clean condition, there doesn't appear to be one item about this car that is actual 26R. But that shouldn't affect it's performance or fun level. I'm sure, if it was in JR Mitchell's shop at one time, he'd give you an honest opinion of the car.

All genuine 26Rs will be of the early 26 style body. They may have a hardtop, but, save the Surbiton and other specials, will not be FHC. And no 26R will ever have S4 rear light clusters or the S4 boot latch.

Yes,thats why I put the question marks in the subject.....I cant see why it would even be compared to a genuine 26R (or one of the other 2000 odd genuine replica's)

Actually , can we affirm that this is a real genuine 45R or a 26R with some of the best Sheepcraft bloody mods !?!
To me , far from UK , it's hard enough keep any Elan -racer or not - as a runner ...
This advert is under FIA HRCA BRDC SCCA NYCFD FBI investigation . For sure , Max Mouseley , Ed & Pete will make the point on that enigm .
Looking for Howard,
Christian.

You're right , Ed .
You'll have to add some of your long canadian winters on top to take the time to choose colors , when built it .
As many of classics , time spend on them stay about the same whatever the make , the model , and disapear when selling it.
Christian.
