Elan insurance in Australia

PostPost by: gordont » Fri Mar 27, 2009 2:30 am

1966 S2 finally finished and registered (full reg not just club)

Looking at insurance, anyone in Australia with any recommendations, Shannons and Vigil (LSV) seem reluctant to insure if drived more than twice a week.

any advice much appreciated

cheers

Hi Gordon,

I have mine with Shannons on a "low usage" policy i.e. less than 8000km's per year. The only issue was that it needed to be in a locked garage otherwise they wouldn't insure, and I had to be a member of the Lotus Club ... none of which were issues.

Interestingly enough ... they have never asked me the milage, so I am not sure how they determine how many km's I would do, not that I drive 8000km's p.a. anyway.

cheers

Just got off the phone to Shannons, went unlimited usage, garage and $900 per annum.

Look forward to seeing another elan on the road. Mine is an original 7000mile model and has been off the road since the early 70's. keen to get out and about driving it.
