If it's all there, and in the shape the seller says it is, it's a good price. I paid slightly more than the subject Elan's Buy It Now price for my '70 S4 DHC, all original and not disassembled, with 35,000 miles. It's easy to spend $3,000+ getting a great car back into shape (ask me how I know), but the dollars per fun factor are still low.

The seller did say the cylinder head is off. It is extremely optimistic to think this one is drivable.

I don't like to comment on folks auctions before they are over. This ended BIN at $5k. Seems like a bit much to me for a Elan that spent its early life in the Boston area. I don't remember seeing the Elan around the area (probably was a early garage queen) and then migrated out to greener pastures in the side yard. I would count on a chassis change in any event. This will be expensive no matter how you look at it. Not much photographic support for the money.

" I never titled the vehicle in my name. As soon as it arrived in Utah from Boston I commenced the body-off restoration. The person from whom In purchased the car is a business associate and personal friend. The VIN and engine numbers match the original sales documents, which I have. I also have the original owners manual and work manual. As a matter of interest I have owned a Lotus 7, Europa, and Elan +2. This car stood outside for eight years (after the waterpump failed). There is no evidence that the engine overheated. The owner was a motor mechanic and teaches auto mechanics at a local school. The front rotors and perhaps linkages need to be replaced. So too do the rear rotors. The calipers appear to be good. The rear suspension parts appear to be good. It probably needs new shocks. I will photograph as much as I can and post photos. Merry Christmas, Rory"

Who ever that bought it the first time must have had second thoughts as the auction is back on.

This second listing at least showed some relevant photos. Will this sale hold?
Are we looking at the last cheapest Elan for sale on eBay in history? Under five g's seems impossible.
But what about that title?
