what are your feelings on a elan + 2 conversion to soft top
Good or bad thing??

Isaw a plus 2 converted to a convert at Mosport a few years ago ---absolutely stunning ----Lotus missed a good seller there ----took a moment to figure out what it was -- --ed

Making a Plus 2 convertible is a fairly straight forward job as the body is independant of the chassis so you can cut the roof off without destroying the handling completely. You would need to add extra strengthening into the body to compensate but its straightforward and no where near as complicated as converting a modern metal roofed car.
If you compare the bodies of say the new Mini convertible and its metal roofed sister they could almost be treated as two different cars the amount of extra work and redesign needed.
If a Plus 2 has been converted by a competent person then you should have no problems.
