Elan Flairs - the good the bad and some ugly ones

Hi Patrick
I uploaded your photos, if you want them removed just ask.
Gary
This photo is from a dead web page(maybe), the S2 (in BRM colors) with 26r flairs. I wish that the owner would get the site going again so I could get their name.

This is a S3 coupe that Bob Herzog built and was sold, the photos are off the chicago lotus club web site.

I just looked around on the new lotuscorps.org webpage and found this project that Bob is doing. seems to keep busy finding and building Elan's and Cortina's

Looks like Bob bought the S1 project Elan from Stan Aarhus

Hi Gary, thanks for that. Re the BRM, I thought they were all S3?
At one point, I was hoping mine was one, but it was red when it came to Oz.
Cheers

Hi Patric
I don't know about the BRM Elans, the S2 with the hardtop is probably just painted the BRM colors for all I know. the coupe may or maynot be, I don't remember where I get all of the photos.
Seeing Andy uploaded some photos of his Elan and I haven't seen these flairs I thought they should be added to the flairs thread.
If you want them removed Andy let me know and I will edit the thread.

garyeanderson wrote:The last Elan is the car that Andy Dijac built on 26/4079 and is more than likely the most expensive (in terms of real dollars invested). The numbers that I heard at the time 10 or more years ago were high 70's maybe low 80's in U.S. currency. Where the Elan is today, I don't know but I think it is on the left side of the U.S.
Car was sold to Auto Europe Sales in Birmingham, Michigan. I have heard it has since been sold to someone else, who also resides in Michigan.
When it left Andy's hands, it had a fuel injected, dry sump, Cosworth BDP with around 265hp, the car was gorgeous

Hi Morgan
Andy's ex Elan always lookd great, The last time I saw it in person, it still had the Twin Cam in it. Andy posted a lot of photos after he had the EWP electric water pump. Do you have any photos of the engine bay from that time period, I think it had the DTA Fuel injection too as I bought the 45 dcoe Webers from Andy. I did not see the BDP engine in the Elan when that happened but I did hear about it.

As far as I remember, he never had fuel injection on the Twin Cam as I am pretty sure it had the Webers on it when I drove the car out here in LA, which was right before he put the Cossie in it.
Don't have any pictures of TC handy, but here is one of the Cosworth

Hi Morgon
These 2 photos were probably taken Sunday at the Limerock fall festival 2000. It still has the webers that I have including the bracket for the throttle linkage.
You may have even taken the photos that day, I see your Elan parked next to Andy's in a couple of the photos.
There were a series of pictures that Andy uploaded to the the yahoo groups showing the EWP instalation, Jeff says he has every thing from back then,
so maybe some day he'll post them some time in the Tech tips area?

Gary, you are indeed correct, I spoke with Andy yesterday and he confirmed that he had the fuel injection on the Twin Cam for a bit. Too many Grateful Dead concerts may be messing with my memory, but I don't recall seeing the car in this configuration (and it's possible I didn't as he moved to CA a number of years before I did)
He retrofitted the same FI to the Cosworth engine

I attended a few "dead concerts" before Jerry checked out, but I bought the 45mm Webers from Andy while he was still out East. At least I sent the check to Andy in CT and it was cashed.
